Real Repair Cases

Examples of how a structured diagnostic finds the real cause — and how documented findings keep every repair transparent.

Corroded ABS wheel speed sensor being extracted from a trailer hub
ABS Fault

Seized ABS Sensor, Recurring Fault Code

Problem
A dry van came in with an ABS light that kept returning after another shop replaced the ECU. The fault code pointed to a wheel speed sensor circuit.
Diagnosis
Signal testing showed a dead sensor circuit, not an ECU fault. The sensor was seized in the hub from corrosion and had to be carefully extracted before a new sensor and extension harness were installed.
Outcome
System cleared and verified in the shop by simulating wheel speed signals — no unnecessary ECU replacement, trailer back in service the same day.
Worn heavy-duty trailer brake shoes and drum laid out for inspection
Brake Repair

Uneven Braking Across an Axle

Problem
A flatbed operator reported the trailer pulling and uneven brake wear. They wanted to know which axle was actually the problem before authorizing work.
Diagnosis
A measured brake inspection with photos documented worn shoes and an out-of-spec drum on one axle, plus a slack adjuster out of adjustment.
Outcome
Shoes and drum replaced on the affected axle with brake adjustment included. Customer approved the plan after seeing the documented wear.
Leaking trailer wheel seal and hub assembly being serviced
Wheel-End

Wheel Seal Leak Found During Sensor Job

Problem
While extracting a seized ABS sensor, the hub had to be removed — revealing a wheel seal that was already weeping oil onto the brake.
Diagnosis
Photo and video documentation showed contaminated brake components and a failing seal that would not survive being reused after the hub was pulled.
Outcome
New wheel seal installed while the hub was already off, avoiding a second teardown later. Customer approved the added work before it was performed.
