The process

How We Diagnose Trailer ABS

A fixed $200 diagnostic built on a repeatable, documented workflow — so you get the real cause, not a parts-swapping guess.

Step by step

The diagnostic workflow

A structured process designed to find the real cause before replacing any parts.

  1. 1

    Connect Trailer Power

We power up the trailer and establish a stable connection to the ABS system, including verifying main ABS power and stop-light backup power supply.

  2. 2

    Read ABS Fault Codes

We pull active and stored fault codes directly from the ABS ECU to see exactly what the system is reporting, then confirm module communication and response.

  3. 3

    Simulate Wheel Speed Signals

Using in-house diagnostic equipment, we simulate wheel speed sensor signals to isolate the failing circuit — often without needing to road test the trailer.

  4. 4

    Inspect Sensors, Harnesses & Brakes

We test sensor signals, inspect extension harnesses and connectors for corrosion or intermittent faults, and visually inspect brake shoes, drums, chambers, and slack adjusters.

  5. 5

    Document Findings

Every relevant finding is captured with photos and video so you can see the true condition of each component before any decision is made.

  6. 6

    Written Repair Plan

You receive a written repair plan with documented findings and a parts and labor estimate before any repair begins.

  7. 7

    Approval & Verification

No additional repairs happen without your approval. After repair, we clear faults and verify the ABS system passes before the trailer leaves.

The $200 diagnostic

What's included in the $200 ABS diagnostic

Our diagnostic is not just a code read. It is a structured ABS system check designed to find the real cause before replacing parts.

ABS Fault Code Reading

Read active and stored trailer ABS fault codes.

ABS Power Supply Check

Verify main ABS power and stop-light backup power.

Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Testing

Test wheel speed sensor signals using diagnostic equipment.

ABS Sensor Harness Inspection

Check sensor extension harnesses and connectors for damage, corrosion, or intermittent faults.

ABS ECU Communication Check

Confirm ABS module communication and system response.

Brake System Visual Inspection

Inspect brake shoes, drums, chambers, slack adjusters, and related components.

Wheel-End Visual Inspection

Inspect wheel seal condition, hub area, and visible bearing condition when accessible.

Photo / Video Report

Provide documented findings through photos and videos before repair approval.

Diagnose first. Repair once.

No unnecessary parts replacement. No additional repair without customer approval.
